I have been very appreciative of this Church's Tuesday Food Drive. However, this Church and certain Church members are quite authoritarian and exceedingly judgemental. I arrived a little earlier than 12:00pm to the weekly public food distribution. I immediately saw a large area of their parking lot had traffic cones blocking a normally used parking area. Also in that immediate space was what looked like a Plain white police vehicle with spotlight, parked in that area. Many citizens first thought's would be that the "police vehicle" was there to heighten the awareness that that area was not to be used. However, when I inquired with a Church Member within the church if that area was off limits for parking, and that I knew from past experience that their parking lot is already insufficient for the number of folks who come there for food assistance, I was referred to another *elderly church member to express my concern to. This fellow, who I'll not name, was rude and walked away from me without a word when I expressed my concern.A few minutes passed and I had sat down quietly to await the food handout to commence. Another church member walked up, with that *rude man I had spoke to just previously and identified himself as the owner of that former police vehicle. He was cordial and explained to me that he was not a police officer and that he had parked his car there to enhance the effort to discourage others from parking in that area. He said it was a " Fire Lane ", however this is not so, and when I pointed this out, he agreed.
The first *elderly church member wanted to have prayer before this conversation took place, because as he said. I was "presenting a air of satanic influence". Really? For expressing my concern that there was already too little parking area, and that the former police vehicle was being obviously used to give the false impression that it was a Law Enforcement Vehicle, I think not! It is my hope that you will not read hateful or unsubstantiated thoughts into what I am saying,, although I know this is natural for some to do. Note: I NEVER raised my voice, however, due to the personnel assault on my character/concern as being " Satanic ", yes I was upset, but I was not out of line about my concerns. I decided to sign out and leave without further adieu. My being upset does not apply to those church members not involved with this unpleasant situation. This is not a example of " Don't bite the hand that feeds you ", as I have stated, my ONLY concern was about others arriving to find a more restrictive parking situation and that it is a pet peeve of mine when anyone not a Law Enforcement Officer uses a former police vehicle to intentionally create a environment that the "Police" are there to control parking.. Anyone, church member or not, should not be treated as I was treated. I support the Thin Blue Line, and am against the intentional use of vehicles or other such things being used to willfully create a false impression of having Law Enforcement being present.
